Q:
What does the Omnipure Q5615 reduce?
A:
The Q5615 is a 1-micron carbon block cartridge designed to reduce chlorine taste and odor, lead and cysts while also capturing fine particulate. It is a polishing and contaminant-reduction cartridge, not an RO membrane.
Q:
Which systems accept the Q5615 filter?
A:
It fits compatible Omnipure Q-Series heads and approved X12 applications that call for part Q5615. Because Q-Series cartridges can look alike, confirm the exact cartridge number and 12-inch format before ordering.
Q:
How is the Q5615 installed?
A:
The Q5615 uses Omnipure's twist-in quick-change connection. Shut off the feed water, relieve pressure, rotate the old cartridge out, install the new cartridge fully and check for leaks after restoring water.
Q:
What are the Q5615 flow and capacity ratings?
A:
Typical published ratings are approximately 0.5 gallon per minute and up to 1,500 gallons under rated conditions. Actual capacity varies with incoming water quality, pressure and usage.
Q:
How often should I replace an Omnipure Q5615?
A:
Replace it about every 6 to 12 months, at rated capacity, or sooner if flow decreases or taste and odor return. High sediment or chlorine levels can shorten cartridge life.
Q:
Is the Q5615 the same as a standard drop-in 2.5-by-12-inch filter?
A:
No. Although its body is roughly 12 inches long, the Q5615 has a proprietary Q-Series twist-in connection and requires a compatible head. It will not fit a conventional sump-style filter housing.
