Clean it if it's scaled or lightly stained; replace it if it's damaged or discolored after cleaning. Even with no visible damage, Luminor recommends replacing the sleeve every 24 months as routine maintenance, since UV-C transmission through quartz declines gradually with age.

Do I need to buy the lamp too, or can I just replace the sleeve?

The RQ-470 is the sleeve only. You can, but it's not recommended. Luminor certifies its systems as a complete lamp-chamber-sleeve unit, and a non-Luminor sleeve can differ in wall thickness or quartz quality, which reduces the UV-C dose reaching the water and can affect your warranty coverage.

Why does the sleeve need replacing on a different schedule than the lamp?
A:
The lamp is a wear part rated for 9,000 hours, so it's replaced on a fixed schedule (about every 12 months). The sleeve doesn't burn out the same way; it fouls from mineral scale and staining, which is why its replacement guidance is calendar-based (every 24 months) rather than hour-based.
