Q&A
Q:
What is the Luminor RLQ-999 UV Lamp and Sleeve Kit?
A:
It's a matched replacement kit for Luminor BLACKCOMB UV water treatment systems, including a genuine RL-999 UV lamp, RQ-999 quartz sleeve, and installation key — everything needed to replace both wear parts in one order.
Q:
Is a UV bulb the same thing as a UV lamp?
A:
Yes. "UV bulb" and "UV lamp" refer to the same part — the RL-999 is the UV lamp (sometimes called a UV bulb) included in this kit.
Q:
What's the difference between the A, B, and standard -151 systems?
A:
Nothing about the lamp or sleeve changes — the A and B suffixes only mark the system's NSF/ANSI 55 monitoring class. "A" systems are monitored with a UV sensor, "B" systems are non-monitored, and all of them use the same RL-999 lamp and RQ-999 sleeve.
Q:
Can I order the lamp and sleeve separately instead of as a kit?
A:
Yes. If only one part needs replacing, the RL-999 lamp and RQ-999 quartz sleeve are each available on their own. The RLQ-999 kit is for when you're replacing both at once, which is the recommended approach since both wear parts age together.
Q:
How do I reset the lamp timer after installing this kit?
A:
On a 5.1 controller (the type that uses a lamp key), unplug the controller, remove the old lamp key, insert the new lamp key that comes with the RL-999, then plug the controller back in — the display should show 375 or 420 days. Other controller types reset with a button-hold sequence instead; see our how to replace a UV lamp guide for the full steps.
