What contaminants can Sterilight (R-Can) UV systems remove?
Sterilight UV water treatment systems deactivate harmful microbes such as bacteria (including E. coli and coliforms), viruses (like hepatitis and norovirus), and protozoa (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium) by targeting their DNA and making them inactive. However, while it's effective against biological contaminants, UV sterilization doesn't eliminate chemical pollutants or suspended particles from water. How do I clean and maintain my Sterilight UV water treatment system?
To clean your Sterilight UV water treatment system, start by turning off the water supply and unplugging the unit. Carefully remove the UV lamp, ensuring you handle it by its ends to avoid contamination. Using a soft cloth or sponge dampened with a mixture of mild soap and water, gently clean the quartz sleeve to remove any mineral deposits or film. Rinse the sleeve thoroughly with clean water. Once cleaned, reinsert the UV lamp, ensuring it's securely in place. Reconnect the unit, turn on the water supply, and plug the system back in. Periodic cleaning ensures optimal UV transmission and effective water treatment. Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations when maintaining your system.
