Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

What sizes does the John Guest CI011222W connect?

A:

It connects 3/8-inch OD tubing to a 1/4-inch male NPTF thread. Tubing size is outside diameter.

Q:

Will it fit a compression-threaded port?

A:

Not necessarily. This part has male NPTF pipe threads. Do not force it into straight compression, BSP, or other thread forms.

Q:

How is tubing installed in the quick-connect end?

A:

Cut the tube square and burr-free, push it through the collet to the internal stop, then pull back gently to confirm engagement.

Q:

Should thread sealant be used?

A:

Use only sealant approved for the mating female NPT port and potable-water application. Keep excess tape or compound out of the flow path and quick-connect end.

Q:

What pressure and temperature limits apply?

A:

John Guest lists up to 150 psi at 70°F and 100 psi at 150°F for this acetal-white connector family. Also observe the lower limit of the tubing and connected equipment.

Q:

How is the tubing removed?

A:

Depressurize the line, remove any locking clip, push the collet squarely toward the fitting, and pull the tubing straight out. Replace tubing with deep tooth marks or scratches near the seal.
