Actual efficacy of any particular VIQUA UV system will be dependent upon mechanical and water quality variables, including incoming water quality, the specific pathogen(s) present, the age of the UV light bulb, etc. Accordingly, no guarantee can be provided of the actual percentage of common waterborne pathogens inactivated in an application.

Using a UV light system can protect your home or business from harmful bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. However, the effectiveness of your UV water disinfection system requires timely replacement of the UV lamp and proper cleaning of the sleeve. To ensure optimal performance from your Viqua UV water treatment system, regular cleaning and maintenance are important. Over time, mineral deposits can accumulate on the UV sleeve, which can diminish the UV light's effectiveness. To clean your UV quartz sleeve, turn off the system and carefully remove the UV lamp. Then, using a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution, gently wipe the quartz sleeve to remove any deposits or build-up. Dry the sleeve completely before reassembling. In addition, the UV lamp itself has a specific lifespan, often about a year, and should be replaced per model specifications. Always consult the system's user manual for specific cleaning instructions and maintenance schedules to ensure the UV disinfection system operates efficiently and safely.

For optimal performance and to ensure continuous disinfection, it's recommended to replace the UV lamp in your Viqua system annually, although some Viqua lamps are designed to work longer. Pay attention to the recommended lamp repalcement schedule as over time, the intensity of the UV light decreases. Regularly changing the UV bulb ensures that the water passing through the system receives effective UV exposure, safeguarding against harmful microorganisms and maintaining the system's disinfection efficacy. It is also important to purchase and install genuine Viqua lamps.

Viqua lamps are specifically designed and tested to deliver the precise UV dosage required to effectively neutralize harmful microbes in the water. Off-brand or generic lamps may not offer consistent ultraviolet output or might degrade more rapidly, compromising the water treatment process. Additionally, using off-brand lamps can void the system's warranty, leading to potential costs in the event of system malfunctions.
