FAQ
VIQUA VH410 Maintenance & Replacement Parts FAQs
Where can I buy VIQUA VH410 replacement parts?
You can buy genuine VIQUA VH410 replacement parts from ESP Water Products, including UV lamps, quartz sleeves, lamp-and-sleeve kits, controllers, and O-rings. Match the part to your exact system model and electrical configuration before ordering.
What replacement lamp fits a VIQUA VH410?
The VIQUA VH410 uses the genuine VIQUA S410RL-HO replacement UV lamp. If you also need a quartz sleeve, the QL-410 kit includes the lamp, sleeve, and two O-rings.
The S410RL-HO also fits the VH410M, VH410-F20, SC-410, SCM-410, SPV-410, SP410-HO and SPV-8 Series. Replace an old S410RL-HO with the same genuine VIQUA part number. Confirm your model on the system label; use our replacement part finder or contact us with your model and serial number if you need help.
How often should I replace my VIQUA VH410 lamp?
Replace the S410RL-HO lamp every 12 months, even if it still lights up. UV output decreases as the lamp ages. Reset the lamp-life timer after installing the new lamp, following your system’s instructions.
VIQUA rates the lamp for approximately 9,000 operating hours. Visible light does not tell you how much UV output remains, so follow the annual schedule rather than waiting for the lamp to stop glowing. See how to replace a UV lamp and genuine VIQUA lamp information.
What quartz sleeve fits the VIQUA VH410?
The VH410, VH410M and VH410-F20 use the QSO-410 quartz sleeve. It separates the lamp from the water. Clean and inspect it at each lamp change, and more often if mineral buildup requires it.
ESP recommends sleeve replacement every 24 months or as needed. VIQUA’s manual calls for replacement if the sleeve is scratched, cracked, or cannot be cleaned completely; it does not specify a fixed 24-month interval.
What is included in the VIQUA QL-410 replacement kit?
The QL-410 kit includes one S410RL-HO UV lamp, one QSO-410 quartz sleeve, and two O-rings. It contains replacement components, not a complete UV system. The lamp and sleeve have different maintenance schedules, so you do not need to replace the entire kit every year.
Buy the kit when both parts are due; choose the lamp alone when the sleeve remains clean and undamaged. Following ESP’s 24-month sleeve recommendation, a common pattern is a lamp alone one year and the kit the next.
How do VH410, VH410M and VH410-F20 maintenance and controls differ?
All three use the S410RL-HO lamp, QSO-410 sleeve and QL-410 kit. The standard VH410 uses the BA-ICE-CL controller, which counts down lamp life and signals lamp-life or lamp-failure conditions. The VH410M uses a monitored controller and a 254NM-C1 UV sensor to display relative UV intensity, not a real-time delivered UV dose. The standard VH410 and VH410-F20 do not have this sensor. Clean the VH410M sensor window when cleaning the sleeve, following Section 4.3 of the manual.
The VH410-F20 also has a sediment prefilter to maintain. Controllers, sensors and power cords are model-specific; confirm the exact model and electrical configuration before ordering. Replace failed controls or sensors after diagnosis, rather than on the lamp schedule. Retaining nuts, the 410867 O-ring, SP008 sleeve spring, chamber clamp kit and power cords are listed under Compatible parts.
What maintenance does a VIQUA VH410 need, and how should I service it?
VH410 maintenance checklist
- Replace the UV lamp every 12 months and reset the lamp-life timer after installing the new lamp.
- Clean and inspect the quartz sleeve at every lamp change; clean sooner when mineral deposits accumulate.
- Maintain upstream prefilters and any other pretreatment equipment.
- Check for leaks, worn O-rings and seals, and controller alarms. Replace damaged seals; use only lubricant approved for the seals and drinking-water application if lubrication is needed.
- On the VH410M, also inspect and clean the UV sensor window according to the manual.
Before and after service
Read the VIQUA VH410 owner’s manual first. Shut off water flow, release pressure, disconnect power and allow the unit to cool for 10 minutes before lamp service. Do not use water during replacement, look at an operating UV lamp, or operate the lamp outside the chamber. Handle the lamp by its ceramic ends.
Follow Sections 4.1–4.3 for removal and reassembly, then restore pressure slowly and check for leaks. After lamp or sleeve replacement, follow the plumbing treatment procedure in Section 3.2 before returning the water supply to use. After applying power, including after an outage, VIQUA specifies a minimum five-minute wait before passing water through the system. Follow the manual’s timer-reset steps only after fitting a new lamp.
How do I clean the VH410 quartz sleeve?
Clean it at least at the annual lamp change and more often if your water causes deposits. Minerals coat the sleeve and reduce the UV light reaching the water.
After shutting off the water, releasing pressure, disconnecting power and allowing the unit to cool, drain the chamber and remove the lamp and sleeve as shown in the manual. VIQUA specifies a cloth soaked in CLR, vinegar or another mild acid, followed by rinsing with water. Replace the sleeve if deposits cannot be removed completely or if it is scratched or cracked. Reinstall the sleeve, O-rings, retaining nuts and spring in the positions shown in Section 4.2, then check for leaks. See how to clean a UV quartz sleeve.
What prefilter maintenance does the VH410 need?
VIQUA’s manual calls for a 5-micron sediment filter ahead of the UV system. The VH410-F20 includes sediment prefiltration; a VH410 or VH410M without a built-in filter still needs suitable upstream prefiltration.
Change the sediment cartridge according to its instructions and water conditions, sooner if it becomes clogged or pressure drops. Maintain softeners and other pretreatment too: a sediment filter does not remove dissolved minerals. Have the source water checked against the manual’s water-quality limits so pretreatment can be matched to your water.
Should I leave the VH410 on, and how often should I test my water?
Keep the UV system powered during normal service, including when you are away. Water passing through an unpowered or malfunctioning system does not receive UV treatment. Inspect the controller regularly and address every alarm; do not treat an alarm reset as a repair.
VIQUA recommends regular microbiological testing by a recognized testing agency. ESP recommends testing every six months, with samples before and after the UV system; follow your local health authority’s advice for your water source and test after outages, service or changes in water quality as advised. If the system has been off, bypassed or inoperative, follow Section 3.2 of the manual before returning the supply to use.
For a seasonal shutdown, follow the manual and drain the chamber wherever freezing is possible. More guidance: UV system maintenance. Owner’s manual, specification sheet and lamp instructions remain available in Manuals & instructions.
